In preparing for my departure, it has become clear that I have a million things to do! I thought that I would work for the month of July, just to earn some extra money before my departure. But now I am exhausted and I feel so unprepared and behind. I have loans to pay off, and things to buy and packing to do. I will start with my packing list, because I need somewhere to put it anyway. Right now it is on my phone, but with my luck with phones I will lose it and have to start all over again. So hear we go. ..

Now I would love any comments, suggestions or thoughts on my packing list. Especially if there is a question mark next to something, it is because I have no idea whether I should bring it, or what types of the item to bring. I am crazy worried about how everything is supposed to fit in my two suitcases. But my friend told me to make sure I roll!! lol.
Def. bring the bug spray if it allowed on the plane
I will definitely pack some bug spray, and something to keep mosquitoes away!
Def bug spray and sunscreen. Peace Corps will give you some but it’s soooo thick! Used to turn me purple! No to nail polish.
lol! thanks! I’m adding it to the list. And I forgot camera!
Peace Corps will supply you with soooo much bugspray, so just bring enough to get you through the first couple months. As for nail polish, you can get it here, but it’s shitty. I would reccomend bringing your favorite colors and keeping it well hidden in your house. You can always buy local nail polish for the kids in your community. (I have nail painting sessions every so often, but share my OPI with ON ONE.) Also, for t-shirts and dresses, keep in mind that you’ll be acquiring a lot of those here — so bring some, but don’t go overboard. It if helps you relax, keep in mind that there are plenty of people here who maintain a western lifestyle (expats and the like) and so there are ways to buy most anything you need. And if you can’t get a certain commodity, you’ll be surprised how easy it is to do without.
Yeah, I’m trying to keep the amount of clothes I bring to a minimum. Thanks!
Hi! ran across your page looking up how to cook cornmeal porridge w/o it clumping n than saw that you are in peace corps! I applied and did the app and just felt like commenting b/c how cool is that. also guessed you were Jamaican from the recipe post, i am Jamaican too. lol. Hope you post about your time in peace corps.
Hi! Yes I am Jamaican. Serving in Peace Corps Mozambique. I am still struggling with how to transfer this blog over to discuss my life in Moz! But I will try! Thank you for your comment. Good luck with your application!
